EIGHT WAYS TO UPGRADE YOUR JOURNEY

8 MINUTE READ

As airlines step up their fight against Covid-19, they’re doing away with many of the on-board comforts we’ve grown used to. In recent years, air travel has become particularly bleak, especially for those in economy, but now faced with the ongoing threat of Coronavirus airlines are being forced to make difficult decisions in order to safeguard their passengers. After thirty years spent traversing the globe, I’ve witnessed the decline in basic comforts first-hand. Plane seats are narrower and leg room has long been a rare commodity, but over the last few months pillows have disappeared from most carriers and it’s unlikely blankets will make a return. The good news is the Transport Security Administration (TSA) permits passengers to board flights with a blanket slung over their arm like a coat. A blanket is not viewed as a personal item, but instead is considered akin to a hat or a jacket and as such it can be carried on board.

In the months ahead, traveling comfortably promises to be more challenging than ever meaning we each have to take charge of our own wellbeing in the air.

Though we never could have imagined the world experiencing such a turbulent time, the pandemic has hit the travel sector particularly hard. We all love to travel and we all love to see the world around us, but as we grapple with our new normal the challenges associated to traveling are likely to be immense.

Four years ago we set out to reverse passengers’ approach to transit and in doing so we hoped to make their journey a pleasure from beginning to end. At Flyypod® we believe travel should be a comfortable and relaxing experience. As the old adage goes, “It’s the journey, not the destination,” and with that in mind we wanted to create a line that affords maximum comfort no matter the mode of transport. Wherever you plan to go, wherever you end up, we at Flyypod® are there to guarantee your peace of mind for the long road ahead.

The time has come for you to Upgrade your Journey™

01. PREPARE

The Flyypod Sleep Pod is the perfect way to upgrade your journey especially when travelling long haul. Once on board set up your Flyypod® and enjoy it from take-off. When it’s safe to do so, remove your shoes, unzip your pod and hop inside to feel yourself enveloped in a zone of cloud like comfort. Designed to keep you warm and cosy, the pod also acts as a barrier between the seat, the floor and any accompanying passengers.

02. REFRESH

Spending long hours in the air can be stressful in myriad ways. The Flyypod® sanitiser, formulated with essential oils including lavender and ginger, will help keep you feeling fresh and clean. The calming scent acts like an aromatherapy balm which in turn promotes a sense of relaxation while also helping combat jet lag.

While lavender helps relieve anxiety and induces a peaceful state of mind, ginger is highly effective for digestive problems that can occur due to spending long hours seated in flight. It’s especially good for relieving nausea.

03. LISTEN

We recommend a good pair of in-ear, noise cancelling headphones combined with a Bluetooth transmitter so you can wirelessly stream your favourite music. In-ear buds will also allow you to place your Flyypod® sleep mask over your eyes and ears for an uninterrupted immersive experience while resting. We’ve put together a playlist for you to download before you depart.

    04. READ

Due to the pandemic airlines are removing almost all reading material from flights so it’s a good idea to consider bringing your own.

We recommend downloading a few e-magazines and throwing a paperback in your bag as there’s something magical about turning the pages of an actual book given the digital age in which we now live.

We highly recommend The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.

In The Midnight Library, Matt Haig's enchanting new novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist; she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.

Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?

After being trapped in a pandemic-riddled world, Haig’s book provides an exciting escape into another world altogether…

    E-magazines we recommend:

    05. WATCH

Instead of wasting time flicking through the airline's entertainment system, prepare in advance and catch up on a show you've been meaning to watch. Long haul flights allow for you to finish an entire box set before landing. Either download from your chosen streaming service or alternatively you can rent or buy a series, documentary or movie. Just remember to download it in full ahead of your flight.

Our favourite binge worthy shows are listed below. Check the length of your flight and pick one based on how much time you have in the air.

    Shows we highly recommend:

     06. RELAX

We recommend you wear comfortable leisure pants and a long sleeve tee during your flight. Ideally bring a change of clothing (or PJ’s) as you’ll feel more refreshed arriving at your destination in clean clothes versus disembarking in those you slept in.

    07. STAY HYDRATED

Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. In an effort to avoid contamination, some carriers won’t be providing refills in used cups, but will instead offer disposable cups or water bottles. We recommend you pack your own drinking bottle that is flat and can easily slot into the seat pocket without bulging and taking up precious leg room. Try to avoid alcohol as it will dehydrate you and lead to multiple bathroom breaks.

    08. RESET

One of the advantages to being isolated in the sky is that you don't have to be anywhere else but where you are in that moment. Take advantage of the quiet time to reset your mind and practice mindfulness. Listen to a meditation podcast and let go of your thoughts and anxieties.
